1. Submitting a Referral

How do we send a completed referral form?

Completed referral forms can be emailed to [email protected] OR faxed to 604-398-6411. Both emailed and faxed referrals are accepted.

2. Who Can Refer

Who can refer a patient to the clinic?

The referral needs to come from a primary healthcare provider such as a family physician, walk-in doctor, nurse practitioner (NP), or specialist physician, including their MSP practitioner number and signature.

3. Age Requirement

What ages do you assess and treat?

We provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment of ADHD and establish medication treatment for adult patients 18 years and over across British Columbia.

4. Fees & MSP Coverage

What is covered by MSP and what is the $380 fee?

The psychiatric evaluation is covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). Our assessment also includes mandatory cognitive testing which is not covered by MSP ($380.00 fee). The referral form includes a checkbox confirming the patient has been informed of this fee.

5. Required Patient Details

Why is the patient’s email address required on the form?

Patient email is required on the referral form (along with Name, Address, DOB, PHN, and Telephone) because we email the patient links to complete their online rating scales and cognitive testing prior to their appointment.

6. After Referral & Wait Time

What happens once the referral is received?

Current wait times are 6 to 8 weeks. After scheduling your appointment, we email you links to online rating scales and cognitive testing (done on a computer in up to 1 hour), which must be completed before your appointment date.

How It Works

Navigate ADHD with Ease and Confidence

This is our simple, structured process from initial assessment to personalized treatment and re-evaluation.

1. Book the Initial Assessment

Schedule an appointment for the initial assessment to establish a diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Prior to your appointment date, you will receive an email link to complete online rating scales and standardized cognitive testing (up to 1 hour on a computer).

2. Personalized Treatment

Schedule weekly telephone appointments to review progress on the new treatment approach. We provide follow-up care to establish medication treatment for ADHD, if indicated, by telephone or in person.

3. Re-evaluation of Function with Treatment

Confirm that the treatment approach has improved function. The comprehensive assessment report will also be sent directly to your referring practitioner.

Assessment Coverage & Cognitive Testing Fee

The psychiatric evaluation by Dr. Scarth is covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) with a valid referral from a physician, nurse practitioner, or specialist.

Our assessment includes a standardized battery of cognitive tests, which is not covered by MSP. The cognitive testing is an essential part of the assessment as it provides important information regarding your individual cognitive profile to assist in diagnosis and establishing medication treatment.

Through the White Rock ADHD Clinic, Dr. Scarth offers personalized and compassionate care for ADHD. With a focus on understanding each patient's unique presentation, he is here to support you through the assessment and initial ADHD management.

As an experienced physician with over twenty years in clinical practice as a Psychiatrist, Dr. Scarth brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the White Rock ADHD Clinic. He has a background of specialized training in Neuropsychiatry and Neurodevelopmental disorders and a particular interest in ADHD. Dr. Scarth’s commitment is to providing personalized and effective care that ensures that each patient receives the highest standard of treatment tailored to their unique needs.

Our current wait times for assessment are between six to eight weeks from the time we receive a referral from a primary care provider such as your family doctor or a nurse practitioner.
The ADHD assessment is a comprehensive and personalized approach by a Canadian trained psychiatrist with extensive experience in assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. We provide assessment of ADHD and establish medication treatment for patients 18 years and over. After we schedule your appointment, you will receive an email with links to a number of rating scales and cognitive testing. The rating scales and cognitive testing can be done online using a computer and will take up to an hour to complete. It is very important that you complete the rating scales and cognitive testing prior to the appointment date as we will be reviewing the results of that testing during your appointment.
The assessment report will be sent to the referring practitioner. You can request a copy from their office.
After completing the initial assessment, we provide follow-up care to establish medication treatment for ADHD, if indicated. Follow up sessions can be done by telephone or in person. Follow up sessions are covered by MSP.
While the initial psychiatric assessment may identify other conditions, our focus is on assessment and treatment of ADHD. We do not currently provide treatment of other psychiatric disorders.
We will complete any required documents. This is not covered by MSP.

No. The cognitive testing is an essential part of the assessment as it provides important information to assist in the diagnosis and in establishing medication treatment.
Once the appointment is scheduled and we have sent the links for the cognitive testing to you, we do not provide a refund. However, we are happy to accommodate you with rescheduling of the appointment.
The referral to our office for assessment of ADHD needs to come from a physician, nurse practitioner, or specialist physician. Completed referral forms can be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to 604-398-6411. You can download our Referral Form (PDF) here.
On the day of cognitive testing you should take all of your usual medications except any stimulants being prescribed for ADHD. We want to establish a cognitive profile without the stimulant medication. In other words, we want to establish your baseline level of cognitive function.
